EARTH PIGMENT PAINT MAKING II REUNION WORKSHOP AT MOON HORSE RANCH

from $400.00

Saturday, September 7th, 2024 noon to 4 pm

Sunday, September 8th, 2024 noon to 4 pm

After seven years of teaching the Art of Paint Making with Earth Pigments I am finally offering a two day reunion workshop for all those who have come to any of my introductory earth pigment paint making workshops and want to go further in their earth and mineral pigment paint making practice. Bring your tools and materials, your pigments, your paintings, your paints, a surface to paint on, and any questions that have arisen for you in your earth pigment paint making journey. We will learn how to build an earth and mineral pigment library from pigments all over the world with any color you could imagine, how to establish a painting practice, and how to cultivate vision in our work with earth and mineral pigments. We will spend most of our time painting en plein air with the paints we’ve made from the earth. Any subject matter is welcome, whether abstract, landscape, flora and fauna, the horses and goats, or one another. There will be time to collect, make paint, levigate, and ask questions about the paint making process for those wanting to brush up on their paint making skills.

This is an Earth Pigment Paint Making Workshop for those who have taken any one of my introductory Earth Pigment Workshops, including my online course, The Art of Paint Making with Earth Pigments.

We'll begin with a review of the four different ways of making paint from dirt, rock, and stone. We’ll explore together any questions that have arisen for you along your process of making paint from the earth. Then we’ll spend most of our time painting en plein air under the western sky.

SCHOLARSHIPS

A limited number of scholarships are available, with a priority going to BIPOC. To apply for a scholarship please see here.

TRAVEL AND LODGING

Workshop participants are responsible for their own travel to and lodging in Santa Fe. For those traveling from out of town, the nearest airports are in Santa Fe, 20 minutes away, and Albuquerque, which is an hour drive away. Lodging wise, we recommend the El Rey Court, who has offered all registered workshop participants 15% off up to a four night stay. The exact location of the workshop will be sent to registered participants the week before arrival. Moon Horse Ranch is 30 minutes south of downtown Santa Fe.

REFUND POLICY

Due to the nature of these workshops and how much long term planning and preparation goes into each one, refunds cannot be given. Exchanging a workshop ticket for a future workshop at Moon Horse Ranch may be possible and will be considered on a case by case basis.

We hope you will join us for this reunion with so many of the earth and mineral pigment painters we’ve met along the way as we continue to learn and grow in our painting practice.
